pre-1850 architecture in Cape Town. Its unique character has long been acknowledged as an asset to the Mother City. With its colourful single and double storeyed houses and its inimitable character, Bo-Kaap has become a favourite for tourists. The area was built between 1790 and 1840, and its architecture is a fusion between Cape Dutch and British Traditions.
I have been capturing Bo-Kaap images since 2005, and have a potfolio of images covering most of the streets, even before the buildings were colourfully painted. My latest images are all in colour, reflecting the colourful and vibrant nature of the Bo-Kaap area today. ‘Wale Street’, ‘Cnr van der Meulen Street & Wale Street’ and ‘Rose Street’ are now available on canvas or as prints in various sizes.
A 1.5m x 450mm framed print of Rose Street (shown below) was recently purchased, together with the iconic ‘Cnr Wale and Chiappini Streets’ by the Harvest Deli and Cafe in Wale Street, Bo-Kaap..
Note that as a result of printing cost savings, as of October 2018 prints on paper have come down in price by up to 50%.
